Dutch National Cancer Control Monitor 2008

The Monitor of the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) is to gain insight into the quality of cancer control in the Netherlands and the progress of actions based on the NCCP. The Association of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (ACCC) in the Netherlands is assigned by the Steering Group of the NCCP to carry out the Monitor.

Based on a set of selected indicators, supplemented by indicators derived from the different NCCP Programmes, the Monitor reflects the level of cancer control in the Netherlands and is yearly being updated. An international comparison shows how the Netherlands is performing on (parts of) cancer control compared to other countries.

Besides, an overview is given of the initiatives within the NCCP and the challenges on different areas of cancer control. The Monitor offers information to the NCCP Steering Group and the 7 NCCP working groups, which is needed for strategy, policy and actions.

Coordination and planning
The ACCC is coordinating the NCCP Monitor. The Monitor Working group consists of dr. Renée Otter, dr. Sabine Siesling and Marjan Gort MSc (all Comprehensive Cancer Centre North East). The monitor is being released every year during the period 2005-2010. Besides, new indicators are being developed based on the initiatives of the NCCP working groups.
